Army Reserve Knowledge Portal

Instant current information is critical for readiness. Army Reserve readiness is the key element in remaining RELEVANT in the Army war fighting doctrine. Readiness affects Soldiers, their Families, and our Civilian workforce. Soldier readiness is vital. That’s a given. Families must also be ready to take on the singular mission of family well-being while the Soldier is mobilized. The Army Reserve Civilian work force is missioned to support the Soldier’s readiness. This philosophy of reserve Soldier/Family/Civilian readiness is the backbone of the Army Reserve Knowledge Portal (ARKP), enabling focus on all aspects of the Army Reserve mission. The ARKP will remain VIGILANT in providing CURRENT, ACCURATE, STANDARDIZED training in the most INNOVATIVE manner required by our force.

The ARKP is designed to point access to the particular knowledge sought. Currently, the ARKP contains these knowledge areas – Army Reserve University–Readiness (AR U-Readi), Army Warrior Task Training, Common Military Training (CMT), Knowledge Management (KM), and Families Matter.

Army Reserve University–Readiness (AR U-Readi)
AR U-Readi offers electronic distribution of functional course training. A vital benefit of Distance Learning (DL) training is that the student has "reach back" capability to the lesson information, i.e., appropriate regulations, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) relevant to the course of training, etc.

Army Warrior Task Training
Army Warrior Task Training’s primary focus is converting as much of the PreMob task training to a DL modality so the Soldier can train on those tasks at the most opportune time during the month. Battle assemblies can be used for collective training tasks. A tracking mechanism engineered into the knowledge portal affords tracking of individual progress and the reporting of that progress to his unit of assignment. Using the Individual Training and Readiness System (ITRS), a well established training management tool, and combining its capabilities with First Army’s Toolbox mobilization preparedness program, the Major Subordinate Command (MSC) commander and staff can get a weekly status of training progress for the unit and develop battle assembly training plans accordingly. This system requires nothing from the unit personnel. Once a Soldier logs into the portal, using their Army Knowledge Online (AKO) login, their training data is automatically available to ITRS where it is tracked by Unit Identification Code (UIC). The UIC is updated weekly and a report is available to the commander.

Common Military Training (CMT)
ARKP CMT provides quality Army Reserve mandatory training anytime, anywhere. The ARKP incorporates principles of "mining" existing Department of Defense (DoD) training and making it universally accessible; completion and participation information is instantly available to the MSC commander. Development and maintenance are enhanced through the use of online courseware development tools and a common courseware repository.

Knowledge Management (KM)
Knowledge Management (KM) is the Army’s strategy to transform itself into a net-centric, knowledge-based force and an integral part of the Army’s transformation to achieve the Future Force. KM will deliver improved information access and sharing while providing "infostructure" capabilities across the Army so that warfighters and business stewards can act quickly and decisively. KM connects people, knowledge, and technologies.

Families Matter
The ARKP is accessible to all Soldiers and their Family members who have an Army Knowledge Online (AKO username and password. The ARKP provides a doorway to a wealth of information on family readiness to Soldiers and Family members 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Families Matter is constantly being improved and updated with additional information to articulate the Army Reserve’s continuing commitment to Soldier and Family readiness.
